By the Editors of SMRT News Published June 13, 2026

At SMRT News, we hold the trust of our readers as our highest value. This document outlines how we interact with data, parse RSS feeds, and ensure a safe, uplifting environment for everyone who visits.

1. Feed Fetching & Third-Party Content

Our service dynamically compiles headlines and summary information from publicly available, free RSS feeds (including BBC News, News Paper, and NASA) and public video feeds from YouTube. We do not store or claim ownership of these articles. When you click on an article title, you are redirected to the original source.

2. Sentiment & Content Filtering

To provide a constructive reading experience, our server employs a positive content filter. This scanner evaluates article titles and descriptions, filtering out negative keywords associated with tragedies, conflicts, and violence before presenting stories to you. We do not inspect, log, or track your reading selections for these articles.

3. Local Caching & Performance

To maintain fast loading times and respect the API limits of external feed providers, fetched content is cached in our web server's memory for up to 15 minutes. This ensures that your visits do not trigger excessive requests to source servers.

4. Cookies & Personal Preferences

We do not track you across the web. We use standard browser local storage solely to store your visual theme preference (Light or Dark mode). No personal identifying details are transmitted to our servers or third parties.
